Hello again BBS’ers!!

Today I’ve decided to review a product line you wont find here in North America (without doing a little detective work!)

It’s a fantastic range by a company called “Wild Ferns” the range I’ve chosen to review is it’s “manuka honey” range.

So, what’s the fuss about? It’s MANUKA!!

“Unique to New Zealand Active Manuka AAH (Antibacterial, Antioxidant Honey) 650+ has remarkable properties. High in antioxidants which neutralise free radicals and the highest natural antibacterial activity reading of 650+, makes this an especially beneficial honey to assist in the health and enhancement of your skin.

Only Manuka Honey with the Active AAH symbol has been quality assured and rigorously tested with proven scientific methods that certifies its superior levels of antioxidants and antibacterial activity.”

The Wild Ferns Story (From the website)

New Zealand is our inspiration

To create our Wild Ferns range, we didn’t need to search the world for secret ingredients and recipes. The freshness of New Zealand is our inspiration. Wild Ferns products are unique and honest, with special element of difference – just like our country.

Ingredients that make a difference

Every product in the Wild Ferns range has a distinctive ingredient derived from New Zealand’s unique landscape. We use ingredients such as Manuka Honey, Kiwifruit, Thermal Mud and manuka Oil to deliver real skincare benefits. When you open a Wild Ferns product, delicious scents remind you that you’re looking after yourself with the gentle gifts of nature.

You can feel good about Wild Ferns skincare

Wild Ferns skincare products are all made with special care in New Zealand. They are not tested on animals and are presented in environmentally-friendly packaging. It is also our philosophy to ensure our most important ingredients come form natural, sustainable sources so we can help do our part to retain and protect the clean, green, unique beauty that is New Zealand.

Quality you can trust from a family business

The Wild Ferns range originates from parrs Products, a family business that has been making quality skincare products for over 20 years. We are proud to express the spirit of New Zealand in everything we do.

The Wild Ferns Manuka honey is collected from bee hives which are situated on the outskirts of Auckland (New Zealand) in the Waitakere ranges.

New Zealand Honey Is Chemical Free And Pure…
New Zealand beekeepers do not feed antibiotics to their bees, so the honey is chemical free and totally pure. This makes it an ideal base to make a range of cosmetics that are unique, sort after worldwide, and great for your skin.”

How my Wild Ferns obsession began:

About a year and a half ago, I packed my bags and headed on a plane across the world. An exceptional experience!  in an effort to keep my bags light (25 kg’s or less, to be exact!) I couldn’t really pack all of my necessary cosmetics. When I finally ran out, I found myself in Queenstown, New Zealand. It’s there, that quite by mistake, I was introduced to this totally awesome line!   So, where to start…

I walked into a shop and took a sniff of the Manuka honey body butter, it smelled amazing. It’s a bright, sweet smell that I really can’t compare to anything else. I fell in love with the scent! Noticing that the price of most skincare products in New Zealand, was above what I was used to paying in North America, I opted to ditch my habitual products, in favour of the nicer price (and nicer smell!!) attached to this local company, I thought “yeah, I’ll give it a try”. So, off I went with a new Moisturizer and antioxidant facial serum.

So, we know that these products (every single one in the range…soap, body butter, body lotion) all smell awesome, but how do they perform?

Well, the facial serum is incredible. With a texture that’s heavier than most “serums” I can safely say it will last you and you don’t need very much. It’s almost the consistency of a moisturizer. I apply it at night, maybe twice a week (they recommend 2-3x weekly)

And I do find my skin has a much brighter glow from it. It’s very hydrating, when using this, I usually skip my night time moisturizer (yay for one less product to apply!). At approximately $18.00 (CAD) for 50ml (which should last you 4+ months) I’d say it’s a steal! (I don’t even care what the shipping cost will be! I’m just thrilled I can now buy from Amazon!!)

Animal friendly products from New Zealand!

Animal friendly products from New Zealand!

The “daytime” moisturizer  has an spf of 15, and believe me, I’ve tested it under the blazing Australian sun! ..it’s a good spf! My skin feels hydrated (no greasy after effect!) and smells good!  Without hesitation I will say, this is the ONLY daily moisturizer I will ever use again (Goodbye Body Shop vitamin C moisturizer!). It’s got all the bells and whistles of a “higher end” product  but at a fraction of the cost.  It retails for $ 17.34 (CAD) on Amazon. A bit more than I paid in New Zealand, but with good reason…we’re on the other side of the planet here!
