So, up for review today, I’ve decided to hi light another one of my fave products.
In keeping with my “free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, gluten (yes gluten!) as well as cruelty free trend, may I introduce to you, “Tarte”!

A bit about the company (From Tarte’s website):
“Before I started Tarte out of my one bedroom apartment in 1999, I was a total beauty addict like you, but I quickly became frustrated when I couldn’t find pure, powerful cosmetics. Everything I found was full of unhealthy, icky stuff, and whether it was from a department store or one of the very few “healthy” makeup lines I could find, the packaging was so unglamorous that I hardly wanted to buy it let alone take it out of my purse in public!
So I set out to create a line that would prove that glamour can be good for you by pioneering the use of high-performance naturals™. Today tarte is a leader in healthy, eco-chic beauty, offering cruelty-free cosmetics infused with skinvigorating™ ingredients like superfruit and plant extracts, vitamins, minerals, essential oils and other naturally-derived ingredients. But it’s not just about what’s in our powerful formulas; it’s what’s not in them that really sets us apart! All of our products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, synthetic fragrances and gluten, just to name a few. Ingredients are absolutely important to me, but so are formulas that perform. We call it tarte 12-hour power™, but you’ll just notice it lasts. Not to mention that we’ve got -, waterproof, sweat-proof, SPF and formulas with truly compelling consumer panel claims.”

So, on to “nitty gritty”, we know this stuff ticks all the boxes on paper, but how does it feel?  Well, it feels amazing! I have acquired three chubby pencils over the years, since my first ever purchased (and beloved) “dazzled”.  Upon application, I noticed a slight tingle, a minty sensation!  Tarte claims to moisturize “6000%”. While I will admit my lips feel moist. I’m. Not sure I would know what a 6000% improvement in moisture would feel like!
Tarte describes these as something between a lip gloss, balm and a stain. I find this to be a very accurate representation. Though, I will note, the “stain” is better with some colours than others.
Now, I’ve posted the swatches, and could go into detail about each colour, but Tarte is constantly changing names, colours etc. I fell in love with “dazzled” which Sephora no longer carries. Ugh.

So, about the colours:
Charmed: (lipsurgence natural lip stain)  a very glossy (no sparkles though) baby pink colour. I don’t use this often, but when doing a soft pink lip, layering two-three times gives a great pigmented look.
Dazzled: (lipsurgence, lip luster) this is my “go to colour” I really can’t live without it!  It looks great when I have no makeup, and great when I want a subtle glossy lip with a dark eye. It’s not incredibly pigmented, but has a beautiful sparkle to it. I’d say this is a coral-pink, great on olive complexion or in summer with a tan!
Fever: (lipsurgence, lip luster) a sheer red- I wear this under red lipstick to moisturize or prolong, or in summer when I have a tan and it looks great alone. It doesn’t last very long on its own, but it gives a beautiful, very wearable red look. If you want a subtle daytime wear red with a glossy shimmer, this is for you.
It’s nice to know what I’m putting on my lips is natural and not tested on animals. I’m a huge proponent of the Tarte line! At 29$ (Canadian) they’re on the pricier side, but money well spent in my humble opinion.  I certainly plan to check out  a lot more of the their line. They even offer a vegan line of products!
