First Impression: IT Cosmetics

IT Cosmetics Review

I have read and heard MANY fantastic things about IT Cosmetics so when The Shopping Channel had a Showstopper recently I just HAD to order. IT Cosmetics Your Most Beautiful You 6-Piece Collection was the deal of the day and oh my goshness, am I glad I ordered.

First up is the foundation piece of the line the Bye Bye Undereye Concealer in a super size! Giiiiiidy! This stuff is fantastic. Creamy, light, full coverage, light reflecting, brightening magic stuff in a tube. It’s not just a concealer, it can be used as a foundation and a collagen treatment. The finish is so natural that you can’t tell you’re wearing it. I have yet to use it as an all-over foundation but as an under eye concealer, it’s game changing.  I’ve used a few times now and all day wear is really nice, doesn’t go cakey or crack and holds up under heat (it’s been warm here lately).  It’s a pretty thick texture, so I’m not sure how it would work as an all-over product.  It retails for $29 for .29 oz and this collection included a full 1 oz  (yup over 3 times the regular size!).  You only need a teeny tiny bit so this tube will last a loooong time.

The next item I tried was the Hello Light Creme an anti-aging radiant illuminating Creme with hydrolyzed collagen, peptides and a proprietary light technology. They’ve tossed in vitamins, green tea, hyaluronic spheres, silk and aloe for good measure. I suppose they could have included unicorn sneezes on the ingredient list because this stuff does magical things to your skin. It’s going to sound really corny, but after putting this cream on our skin in a few specific places (it actually gives you a ‘best place to apply it’ map on the box)  it looks like someone lit your skin from within. It’s not ‘glitter’ it’s ….light. Transforming. It is something that brightens your entire face. Your brow bone, bridge of your nose, cheek bone…..magic. It’s subtle, not in our face rainbow glare, yet does so much. I honestly can’t stop my impressive rambling. Loooove it. I did find that several hours into the day, it didn’t look as luminous or ‘fresh’ as it did in the morning, perhaps a reapplication in the afternoon would have been a good idea.  It’s packed in a fantastically beautiful shining compact so tucking it into your bag is super simple and it’s an easy targeted swipe if you do need a refresher.  (You can see in the photo that I’ve shwiped my finger across the product, I was hoping to be able to capture it’s fantasticness on film.  It just didn’t carry forward as a swatch on camera, though I may have to try again.)

I’ve never filled in my brows so the next item was iffy out if the gate. YBBB Your Brows But Better a skinny brow pencil with a tidy little spooly on one end. Just for the fun of it I used it one morning as part of my “putting my face on” routine and…..awesome. Made such a difference. It was the kind of thing where you know something is different but you can’t quite pin-point it. It’s a one colour fits all pencil, the harder you press the darker it is.  It is a twist up pencil so no sharpening required and the spooly brush on the end blends everything together and it just looks great. They say that the eyebrows frame the face and honestly, other than plucking stray hairs I never really did much with them.  This pencil is great; natural looking, easy to use/apply and the built in spooly means one less thing I have to try and find.

I was a little discouraged by the gloss colour initially.  The Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip  Gloss Stain appeared to be an almost electric pale pink in the tube. I was truly hoping it wasn’t as opaque and Barbie-pink as it appeared since that was not my kind of colour.  But honestly after I swept it on, it was a sheer delightful pink that darkened just a bit on the lip and looked really nice.  It’s not an ‘in-your-face’ colour, truthfully it can be barely noticeable but it gives your lips a nice finish. Especially if you’re someone like me that doesn’t wear lip colour at all.  The gloss is perfect, it is absolutely NOT sticky. There’s no tack whatsoever to the point that you forget it’s there.   It’s definitely a stain as the colour stayed with me for hours, it did need a little reapplication after coffee and lunch, but that’s probably because I wanted  to reapply not that I had to.  It claims to treat, hydrate, condition and nourish lips while helping to eliminate fine lines. I must say that other than the hint of colour it is very balm like and moisturizing.

The collection also included 2 brushes.  Ultra-luxe Heavenly Luxe™ Pointed Precision Complexion Brush and the Heavenly Luxe™ Dual Airbrush Foundation/Concealer Brush both have a soft-touch handle that is super comfortable to hold and the brush itself is super soft and….well….’luxe’. Lots of soft bristles and so far no fall out. The precision brush is intended for the application of the Luminzer and it works like a charm, picks up and places the ‘light’ where you want it and blends it out beautifully.  The Dual Airbrush is obvioiusly,  dual-ended so it’s just the ticket for blending the under-eye concealer AND works magic for foundations (I’ve tried it with my current foundation routine). It retails for $48 on the site while the Precision Brush is $38, probably in the mid/high range for brushes.     Keep in mind that your fingertips would  work great for application of the Bye Bye Under Eye and I’m sure a blending sponge would work as well, but the brush was obviously crafted specifically for the product and it literally makes it blend effortlessly and seamlessly. Reviews on all the IT Cosmetics brushes are fantastic and I can see why.   If these brushes weren’t part of the collection, I probably wouldn’t have gone out and purchased them, but I’m glad they were included because they are great additions to the set.

There you have it, the entire collection. Underneath you see how it was packaged. The beautiful silver box was emblazoned with a lovely inspirational quote and everything was gently snuggled into  an assigned spot it he tray.  The brushes were packaged in clear tubes, which I’m keeping (they will make perfect companions when I take the brushes travelling with me ). The collection was purchased as a Showstopper on The Shopping Channel so the price point you’ll find it at now is higher. It was definitely a great purchase, even if the only thing you take into account is the Bye Bye Under Eye product at more than 3x it’s regular size.  The additional products are really nice and have already integrated themselves into my daily routine. I had never tried IT Cosmetics before this collection and am impressed with the quality, wear and packaging. I will definitely be phone in hand the next time they make an appearance and hope to add to my new little collection.

I think this collection of IT Cosmetics is: Truly Frantastic!

Until next time 🙂
