Outside the Box: eBeauty Summer Bag

I loooove the internet, I find the most fantastic things.  In a recent adventure I came across www.ebeauty.ca they have some fantastic deals on brand name beauty goodies as well as ….wait for it….a seasonal glam bag.  Of course I had to have one and it arrived today.  This is a first impression of the contents since obviously I haven’t had a chance to really try anything.  Hopefully a more in depth review of the contents will follow after I’ve had some time to ‘play’ with everything.

For $29.99 I received 14 products and a cute toiletry bag, a pretty good price point to be able to sample a lot of different goodies at once.

First up are  the Katy Perry “Sweetie  Pie” Lashes ($8) with adhesive. I must admit I don’t use false eyelashes, they just don’t seem to work into my lifestyle.  Easier to sweep on mascara and go on about my business but these are really natural looking….honestly. So if I ever would try a pair, it would be these.  I may just have to find an occasion special enough to throw these on. Will report back if/when I do.

Next in the box were these Professional Quality ‘Soft Touch’ Eyelash Curler and Dual Tip Tweezer from Danielle Creations (Upper Canada Soap Company)  They look to be of good quality and the soft touch handles are really nice to hold. The curler comes with 3 pads total and the tweezer has two ends (hence Dual Tip). Slanted tip for larger area removal and pointed tip for smaller ingrown hairs (or slivers!). You can pick up both items for about $12 in the ebeauty shop.

Marc Anthony Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hair Spray – you can’t have too much hairspray! It’s impossible.  I’ve used other Marc Anthony products before and they’ve all been great so I’m sure this is no exception. It’s a nice travel size and claims to have hydrolysed silk in it.  Won’t really know about the hold or scent until  I use it. Results to follow.

I’m about as pasty white as pasty white can be.  During the summer my skin tone goes from off-white to ivory.  I’ve used self tanners in the past, some to less than stellar results. I’ve never tried a foam mousse though, so this should be interesting.  Pretend Tan Instant Self Tan Bronzing Mousse is paraben free and only comes in one colour. It claims to be odour free, but all self tanners seem to have that …..smell to them.  Will have to post again after use to show you some before and afters and whether or not the claim of non-odour is accurate.

As with hairspray, you can’t have too much mascara! I have never tried NYX mascara so this is going to be fun.  The formula I received is the Faux Lashes – Luscious  Volume in a FULL SIZE  ($9) There are 7 variations to choose from and I’m glad this is the one in my bag since I have fairly long lashes just not a lot of volume. I’m currently loving my Jelly Pong Pong (just love saying that) mascara at the moment, but am eager to try the NYX and report back.

I have never used a Stila lip product….I know, I know! I am thrilled to have the  Stila Sparkle Luxe Gloss to play with. The colour is Fairy Dust and is a super sparkle filled, coraly/pinky colour.  It’s retail value is $29! That’s the price of the entire box!

Another ‘never tried before’ is the Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics Nail Colour. It’s a $15 polish that boasts a 3-free formula. The colour is ‘Spank Me’ a coral/peach cream shade that looks like it would be 1-coat true.  I’m looking forward to swiping this on my digits in the very near future and will include this in a future follow up post.

Next up is the GO Smile Luxury Toothpaste AM/PM Duo. These travel size tubes are perfect for a trial run.  The AM Formula contains essential oils of lemon, orange, mandarin and peppermint to wake you up while the PM formula has the calming extracts of chamomile, lavender, valerian root, vanilla and spearmint to help you (and your teeth) unwind at the end of a long day. The system contains fluoride and promises to keep your smile white.  Everybody uses toothpaste (in some form) so this is definitely a nice add to the box.

I’m not a ‘blotter paper’ user at all. The concept intrigues me and certainly the Lavender Blotting Linens from Boscia intrigue me. 100 sheets are included in the little purse/pocket size pouch and the fact that the  linens are made from the exotic Abaca Tree plant and infused with Lavender make them very….cool.  Still not sure if I will use them, but I’m sure I can find a shiny skinned friend to share them with.

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel claims to work by forming a second-skin around the face helping protect, reduce redness and firm the skin for a smoother, plumper, younger-looking complexion. Interesting concept, going to definitely try this. I’m not uber-wrinkly ….yet. But I’m sure a little help won’t hurt.  The retail on the full size is $95 (the sample size would price out to just over $28 for 15ml….SCORE!)

Almost last but not least is a sample packet of Mereadesso Face & Neck Toning Gel. It contains over 4o botanical extracts, minerals and antioxidants that promises ‘you’re sure to see a difference in just 3-5 days’ It is a pricey one at $130 for 1.7 oz. the luxury sample prices out to just over $14.  The reviews on this product look really good and I’m eager to give it a try.

Finally…..to wrap up the summer bag of goodies they’ve included a…..bag! A really nice quality, good sized, zip-top toiletry/cosmetic bag in a pretty shade of pink.  Also a super-cute round bedazzled two-sided mirror.  The 5x magnification is a scare at times, but certainly will come in handy as will the little velvety pouch that came with it. Perfect to safely tuck in your purse or travel bag.

Final thoughts: Well, it’s a pretty good assortment of goodies for the price point. A lot of things I wouldn’t normally have ordered for myself, but that I think I can certainly get some use out of. I like the ‘deluxe’ sample sizes of the pricier gels/creams as I certainly wouldn’t just go out and purchase these things without knowing if it’s worthwhile first and they’ve certainly given enough of a sample that I’ll be able to tell (unlike some sample packets that are so teeny tiny that you don’t even get a single application) <<very long sentence!

Based upon my math skills and the prices listed on the site itself it looks like I’ve scored over $160 worth of product for $29.99, that’s pretty awesome.   I’m looking forward to trying a lot of these things out and I will certainly do a follow-up post when I’ve done so.  If you’re interested check out the site and the bag for yourself.

I think the eBeauty Summer Bag is: Totally Frantastic!

Until next time 🙂
