GlossyBox January 2013 (Sweden) By Lousie
It’s been quite a while since I received the January GlossyBox, but life has been getting in my way, preventing me from writing this post (which is actually my very first one here, yay!). As stated in the title, this is the Swedish GlossyBox. I’ve noticed that some products that we receive here in Sweden are also in the boxes for other countries. But obviously, some will be different. I will go through the products first and then I’ll give my opinion on the box. So let’s get to it, shall we?

1. Elite Models Intesity Eye Pencil $16 / 1,1 g (fullsize)
GlossyBox’s description:

Elite Models Intensity Eye Pencil

One of the worlds greatest model agencies, Elite Models, have created a waterproof and long lasting intensive eye pencil. It is creamy and soft which makes the application simple and precise. To protect the sensitive skin around the eye it contains shea butter and vitamin E which calms, protects and re-hydrates.

I haven’t really tried this product yet so I don’t have a whole lot to say about it. The one thing that I do know is that myself along with many others were somewhat confused because it looks like it’s one of those twist up pencils, but it’s not – I tried twisting it up for several minutes until I realized it’s supposed to be sharpened.

2. Oliva by CCS Eco Makeup Remover Wipes $7.50 / 24 wipes (fullsize)
Oliva by CCS Eco Makeup Remover WipesGlossyBox’s description:

Cleansing wipes that gently and effectively clean your skin from makeup. The wipes contain organic softening olive oil and olive leaf extract which softens and re-hydrates the skin.

I didn’t really know what to think when I opened my box and saw these. Here in Sweden, that is a rather well known brand that is easy to get your hands on. The reason to why I love GlossyBox is because it gives me a chance to try a lot of products that I can’t just go out and buy in the store and also to try some more expensive things that I wouldn’t normally buy because of the price. However, this product gave me neither of those. So I just have one word for this product. Disappointment.

3. Percy & Reed No-Fuss Fabulousness Dry Conditioner $19 / 50 ml (fullsize)
GlossyBox’s description:
Percy & Reed No-Fuss Fabulousness Dry Conditioner

We all know of dry shampoo, but have you tried a dry conditioner? This dry conditioner from Percy & Reed contains a re-hydrating formula that makes dry hair soft again with a beautiful and shining luster. Perfect to use when your hair is feeling dry and frizzy.

My first thought when I grabbed this out of the box was that it had to be a sample size. But apparently not. Just a tiny fullsize. I haven’t tried this dry conditioner yet but I doubt this container would last for very long. The product do sound rather interesting though, especially since my hair tends to be rather frizzy.

4. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream $11 / 17 g (fullsize)
Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle CreamGlossyBox’s description:

One of the highest rated products on Burt’s Bees website and one of GlossyBox’s most popular products. A 100% natural cuticle cream that gives your nails a helping hand. This intensive cream strengthens and re-hydrates nails and cuticles and leave a fresh scent of citrus.

At first I was thinking about not keeping this but give it away, put it in a swap or sell it cheap. But after thinking some more about it I decided to give it a try because my nails and cuticles are a disaster. A lot of people have raved about the Lemony Flutter from Lush, but in my opinion, this is way better. The scent is better and it just.. works better, at least on me. After the first try, my cuticles both felt and looked a lot better. I have to say that I am very satisfied with this product!

5. Illamasqua Cream Pigment $26 / 8 g (fullsize)
GlossyBox’s description:Illamasqua Cream Pigment

One of Illamasqua’s most universal products – use it for face, eyes, lips or on your body! Use it on its own or as a base for your eye shadow, as a highly pigmented blush or on your lips. Cream pigments are to be experimented with!

Seeing this Illamasqua box had me so excited! That is until I saw the color of it.. A mint color that I just knew I wouldn’t get much use out of. As much as I love that color on my nails, for my eyes… nope. And the thought of using it anywhere else was a bit no for me too. Luckily someone else wanted it though so it will be put in a swap that I’m doing. It’s nice to know that it won’t just be collecting dust in my vanity at least.

My thoughts on this box:
It’s surprising to see a box with only fullsize products. I don’t think that has happened before. But on the other hand, it was quite a disappointing box to me. GlossyBox has only been getting worse and worse lately and I keep thinking about unsubscribing. But I will give it a few more months in hopes of it getting better. Hopefully the next box will be better!
